Con is a wannabe writer.  He is in love with Nina.  Nina is a wannabe actor.  She is in love with Trigorin. Trigorin is a novelist with connections.  Emma is Con’s mother\, a successful actor\, and also Trigorin’s lover.  Dev is Con’s best friend.  He is in love with Masha.  Masha is in love with Con… Something’s gotta give!\nPosner’s genius lies in his capacity to tread a very fine line with tragedy on one side; farce on the other.  Like Chekhov\, he grabs the big themes by the throat and shakes them down for all they’re worth: What is art? What is love? What is family? What is life? And ultimately: WHAT IS THE POINT?
