Stupid Fucking Bird by Arron Posner

Tickets now on sale online (see below).

While remaining relatively true plot-wise to Chekhov’s late 19th century masterwork The Seagull, Posner has created an irreverent, but often poignant modern adaptatio. Con is a wannabe writer.  He is in love with Nina.  Nina is a wannabe actor.  She is in love with Trigorin. Trigorin is a novelist with connections.  Emma is Con’s mother, a successful actor, and also Trigorin’s lover.  Dev is Con’s best friend.  He is in love with Masha.  Masha is in love with Con… Something’s gotta give! Posner’s genius lies in his capacity to tread a very fine line with tragedy on one side; farce on the other.  Like Chekhov, he grabs the big themes by the throat and shakes them down for all they’re worth: What is art? What is love? What is family? What is life? And ultimately: WHAT IS THE POINT? These are the questions Posner’s characters ask themselves, each other, and (directly at times) the audience.

“The production features strong performances… and keeps the audience laughing throughout… witty and fun, but also true in essential ways to Chekhov’s great play. Recommended.”

“A self-consciously irreverent romp… production boasts young performers with energy to burn… complex, ambitious stuff”.”
