Jane Shepard has crafted two wonderfully entertaining one-act plays that explore with humour and empathy the need to share the human experience with another. Expect laugh-out-lout moments interspersed with heart warming insights and edge of your seat suspense. In Commencing, a misunderstanding leads to a highly comical situation in which two women find their notions of gender identity challenged by an intense personal connection. A similar theme, with more serous undertones, is explored in Subway, as a chance encounter between two women pushes them to weigh expectations against vulnerability.
